Santa Monica, California – Mystery lovers will have plenty of reasons to visit the Santa Monica Public Library for Los Angeles Noir Now, a panel discussion led by author Denise Hamilton and featuring a quartet of contemporary noir authors. The program will take place Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard.
Los Angeles Noir Now is a discussion panel on contemporary hard-boiled detective fiction and will be led by Denise Hamilton, author and editor of the award-winning short story collections Los Angeles Noir and Los Angeles Noir 2: The Classics. Joining Denise in the discussion will be Los Angeles Noir contributors and best-selling authors Christopher Rice, Jim Pascoe, Gary Phillips and Naomi Hirahara. A book sale and signing will follow the discussion.
This panel is a part of Santa Monica Citywide Reads, the Library’s annual community reading program that encourages everyone in Santa Monica to read and discuss the same novel in book discussions and special events held throughout the city. The 2012 featured novel is the noir classic, The Lady in the Lake by Raymond Chandler.
Los Angeles Noir Now is presented free to the public and is open to all. Seating is first come, first served. The Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible. For special disabled services, call Library Administration at (310) 458-8606 at least one week prior to event.
