Santa
Monica – Work will start October 26, 2009 to stabilize 1.6 miles of the historic
Palisades Bluffs in the City of Santa
Monica along Pacific
Coast Highway.
The
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has issued an encroachment
permit to the City allowing the closure of the northbound lane nearest to the
bluffs on Pacific Coast Highway between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through
Saturday until April 30, 2010, from the McClure Tunnel and Santa Monica’s
northerly City limits (near Entrada Drive).
This
work is critical in preserving an important recreational and visual resource
that has been a prominent part of Santa
Monica for many years, and will reduce the risk of
future landslides and bluffs erosion.
The federally-funded project is being managed by the City’s Public Works
Department.
For
more information on the project or road closures, please call the Project
Hotline at (866) 755-7679 or visit www.PCHPartners.org.
PCH Partners consists of representatives from the City of Los Angeles, the City of Malibu,
the City of Santa Monica,
and Caltrans working together to coordinate construction projects to minimize
traffic impacts on PCH. Sign up for project news via the PCH Partner’s Twitter site
