As
part of Celebrate Sustainability! Week, many local businesses are gearing up
for Buy Local Super Saturday (Saturday, October 3rd). The
event is designed to raise awareness and support for local businesses and to
encourage shoppers to be sustainable. On this day, customers shopping
with a re-useable bag will receive a reward from participating
businesses. Here’s a sneak preview of some of the businesses and offers
for Buy Local Super Saturday:
Eat
Local. If
you haven’t dined at Cache Restaurant + Lounge, 3110 Main St, this is the
perfect time to start. Cache will be offering 10% off all items on the
menu (excluding alcohol). Fancy a glass of Pinto Noir? Go to
Michael’s Restaurant (1147 3rd St) where you will receive a free
glass of Michael’s world famous Malibu Vineyard Rambla Pacifico Pinot Noir 2005
with purchase. Euphoria Loves Rawvolution (23o1 Main) will be offering a
40% discount on a special local, organic fruit salad for the event.
And don’t forget to purchase a limited edition I Heart SM Water
bottle from the farmers’ markets at 10% off!

From framing to art, auto supplies to home improvements, clothing to
accessories, Buy Local Super Saturday has special offers for everyone in the
family! Participating businesses include T. Heritage Art Gallery (3219
Pico), Paint:Lab (2912 Main), Arts + Letters (2665 Main St), Moondance Jewelry
Gallery (1530 Montana), Platino (909 Montana), Clark Adams Co (3215 Pico),
Engler Brothers Motor Parts (2630 Pico), The Doves Studio (200 Main St) and
Mum’s the Word Maternity (910 Montana Avenue). Some highlights include
Santa Monica Visitors Information Center will be offering 50% off Santa Monica
logo-ed merchandise for shoppers who come in with a re-usable bag.
Agabhumi The Best of Bali (2665 Main St) is using the event to launch a
permanent Buy Local sustainability campaign.
According
to Christina Norton, the Manager at Agabhumi The Best of Bali, “I can’t tell
you how excited we are that Santa Monica is taking this initiative both with
the residents and businesses. Here at Agabhumi The Best of Bali we have been
taking measures within our company and with our customers to encourage buying
AND living with a bigger purpose! As a result, we have decided to not only
offer an incentive for the October 3rd, but will be committing to an
ongoing 5% discount for any customers using a reusable shopping bag! We’re
proud to be the first business here on Main Street to take this initiative and
only hope there will be more businesses to follow suit!” For Super
Saturday, they will be offering a range of discounts including 10% off and ½
off the popular Tie Dye Hobo Bags.

Local. For
the event, the California Heritage Museum (2612 Main St) will be offering free
admission on the day.

The
Buy Local Santa Monica campaign was created by representatives of the Santa
Monica business community and the City of Santa Monica to support local
businesses and raise awareness of the community, economic and environmental
